Sen. Parker Acquitted in Photog Assault

Felony conviction would've automatically cost him his seat

A state senator accused of attacking a New York Post photographer has been acquitted of felony assault but convicted of misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Prosecutors said William Lopez's finger was broken when Sen. Kevin Parker grabbed his camera in May 2009.

A felony conviction would have automatically cost Parker's Senate seat.

The verdict was issued Tuesday in Brooklyn.
