Iran Confirms 3 U.S. Hikers in Custody: Jim Jones

Security Adviser also said the White House "not ruling... out" sending more troops to Afghanistan

Iran has confirmed it is holding three American students who hiked into the country from Iraq last month, President Barack Obama's national security adviser Jim Jones said today.

"The government has officially acknowledged they have them in their custody," the retired general told NBC on Sunday. "That is of this morning that we have that confirmation."

The three were arrested on July 31.

Jones also said the White House would be open to sending more troops to Afghanistan, saying the White House is "not ruling it out."
