Former Comptroller to Paterson: Listen to your own LG

Former State Comptroller Carl McCall is friends with Governor David Paterson, and he also knows something about responsible budgeting.

But McCall tells NBCNewYork he "doesn't understand" why Paterson has rejected the financial plan of his own Lieutenant Governor Dick Ravitch just because it relies in part on borrowing.

"You can't solve this deep fiscal crisis in one year," McCall said. "Dick Ravitch was asked by the Governor to come forward with a plan. He's come forward with a five year plan that makes deep cuts I don't understand."

"Take the Ravitch plan," said McCall. "Make it the Paterson plan."
