Tidbits: “Idol” Could Lose More Than Simon

“American Idol” is due for some big changes before it returns for a Simon Cowell-free season next year. In addition to the recently announced show-time shakeups, one series insider believes “Idol” will undergo a major overhaul that could include losing more than one familiar face.

“Everything is on the table,” the source revealed to PopEater. “Nothing and no one is safe from change. There have been discussions about moving the show to New York, documenting the contestants living and fighting together in one big house and also eliminating the judges altogether.”

Well, at least one thing would stay the same.

“The only one who is safe is Ryan Seacrest,” the source said.

This isn’t the first time someone associated with the show has suggested such a radical revamping. Ex-“Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe spoke to Zap2It in April about his own idea to breathe new life into the limping ratings leader.

“I would replace the entire judging panel,” Lythgoe explained. “I don't think it really works replacing one person. They don't have a great deal of chemistry at the moment. Ryan and Simon have fallen out. It's uncomfortable to watch. Ellen hasn't worked out as well as we would have hoped.”

Lythgoe’s ultimate solution, if he still had any say in the matter, would be to regroup a three-piece panel to be proud of: “Elton John, Usher and Paula Abdul,” he suggested.

Gosselin reveals details about her final dance
For those looking forward to Kate Gosselin’s next — and likely last — choreographed romp across the dance floor, the mom of multiples offered a few hints about just what to expect from her finale night appearance on “Dancing With the Stars.”

“I am dancing a strange combination of two songs,” Gosselin explained Tuesday night while working as a special correspondent for “Entertainment Tonight.” “An old dance, a new dance and it involves flying ... I don’t know. I just started today.”

Given Gosselin’s admitted lack of dance skills, a flying element might just be the distraction she needs to finally wow the crowd. She just wants to make sure she doesn’t wow them for the wrong reasons.

“Just hope I don’t fall,” she added with fingers crossed.

Dish on the fly
Oddball Hollywood diets are nothing new, but the particular one Nicolas Cage sticks to stands out — not due to what he eats, but rather why he eats it. “I actually choose the way I eat according to the way animals have sex,” the “Kick-Ass” star revealed in a quote published in The Sun. “I think fish are very dignified with sex. So are birds. But pigs, not so much. So I don't eat pig meat or things like that. I eat fish and fowl.” Cage kept his opinion on bovine unions to himself. … Though Sharon Stone remains single, that has nothing to do with a lack of would-be suitors. “I really get pursued by men in their 20s, like, a lot,” Stone told MORE magazine. But according to the actress, it’s not her looks or her fame those young men are after. “They probably know there’s food in the fridge and that somebody’s going to talk to them and ask them how their day was.” … Curvaceous reality TV regular Kim Kardashian has confessed that she once hated her figure. “I was the first girl in my class to wear a bra,” the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star recalled in an interview with Shape magazine. “I remember crying in the bathtub. I took a washcloth, made it hot, put it over my chest and prayed, ‘Please don’t let them grow any bigger. They’re embarrassing me.’ ” Eventually, Kardashian learned to accept what she’d one day see as her best assets, deciding, “I have curves and that’s never going to change, so I’d better start embracing them or I’m going to have a miserable life.”
