Selena Gomez Granted Restraining Order

It may not be absolute security, but it may help Selena Gomez breathe a little easier.

A California judge has granted the singer-actress a temporary restraining order against 46-year-old Thomas Brodnicki, who had apparently made verbal threats against Gomez while undergoing psychiatic care.

Health care workers notified police that Brodnicki had claimed he wanted to kill the "Wizards of Waverly Place" starlet.

The restraining order states that Brodnicki must stay 100 yards away from both Gomez and her workplace until a November 4th hearing. At the hearing, the judge will decide whether or not to extend the order for another three years.

In a sworn statement, Gomez stated, "I am in extreme fear of Mr Brodnikci due to his direct threat on my life, his obsessive, harassing and threatening behaviour towards me as well as his criminal history of stalking. I feel that my personal safety as well as the safety of those around me is in jeopardy."
