The school's principal was able to restrain the suspect, a 16-year-old sophomore, until police arrived, Murrysville Police Chief Thomas Seefeld said during a press conference.The victims included 19 students and a school security guard, said Seefeld.

Emergency crews were sent to Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville after a male student armed with a knife began attacking people in multiple classrooms and hallways on the first floor of the building around 7:15 a.m., said Westmoreland County emergency management spokesman Dan Stevens.
