Oliver Stone Eyeing Cornish, Palmer and Lively for “Savages”

Oliver Stone has his male leads and a studio for his next film, but he still needs a leading lady, and has his sights set on three blondes.

Blake Lively, Abbie Cornish and Teresa Palmer are all in the running to play Ophelia in Stone's adaptation of "Savages," reported Deadline. The film, which will likely star Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch and Benicio Del Toro, recently found a home at (our corporate cousins) Universal Studios.

The film is based on Don Winslow's novel of the same name, here's the synopsis:

Part-time environmentalist and philanthropist Ben and his ex-mercenary buddy Chon run a Laguna Beach–based marijuana operation, reaping significant profits from their loyal clientele. In the past when their turf was challenged, Chon took care of eliminating the threat. But now they may have come up against something that they can't handle—the Mexican Baja Cartel wants in, and sends them the message that a "no" is unacceptable. When they refuse to back down, the cartel escalates its threat, kidnapping Ophelia, the boys' playmate and confidante. O's abduction sets off a dizzying array of ingenious negotiations and gripping plot twists that will captivate readers eager to learn the costs of freedom and the price of one amazing high.

We remain impressed by Lively's turn in "The Town," but Cornish has been just OK in two not very good movies this year--"Limitless" and "Sucker Punch," and we haven't seen enough of Palmer to feel strongly about her, but she's dating Australian filmmaker Nash Edgerton, so she can't be all bad.
