Pro-Russia Protesters Storm Building in Ukraine

Pro-Russian protesters stormed the regional government building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk on Sunday and raised a Russian flag in defiance of Kiev's pro-European government, Reuters reported. Mainly Russian-speaking eastern Ukraine, including Donetsk, has seen a sharp rise in tensions since the ouster of pro-Moscow president Viktor Yanukovych. Ukrainian television reported that protesters wanted a referendum on the status of their region, similar to the vote carried out in Ukraine's Crimea which resulted in the region's annexation by Russia.
