Man Who Thinks He Shot Pat Tillman Speaks Out

Steven Elliot believes that he is responsible for the friendly fire that killed former NFL player and Army Ranger Pat Tillman in Afghanistan in 2004. Elliot, who is using his experience to help other vets through Washington state Veteran’s Court, discussed what made him fire that night. "In my mind, you're not considering even the possibility that if there are muzzle flashes, human shapes adjacent to those flashes, they had to be bad guys, they couldn't be good guys," Elliot recalled in an interview with NBC's Lester Holt. Before the painful public admission, Elliot said he had nightmares about the event and couldn't sleep if he didn't drink.
