Khaddafy Can Stay in Libya If He Quits: Rebel Chief

If Moammar Khaddafy steps down from power in Libya he can stay in the country, Libya's rebel chief proposed to him, according to a Reuters article published Sunday. "If he desires to stay in Libya, we will determine the place and it will be under international supervision," rebel leader Mustafa Abdel Jalil said. Five months into the bloody rebellion against his rule, Khaddafy is holding onto power. But members of his inner circle have indicated that they are ready to negotiate with the rebels, who have rejected the African Union's plan for peace talks because it refuses to honor an international arrest warrant for Khaddafy, the rebel council told Al Jazeera.
