AMC Shoots Down Charlie Sheen “Walking Dead” Cameo Report

It would have been a scream.

AMC denied Tuesday online rumors that Charlie Sheen had agreed to a stagger-on zombie role for the second season of “The Walking Dead.”

“Crazy,” a rep for the network told E! News.

The Sheen non-story, which hit the web like a fake celebrity death on Twitter, comes as the post-apocalyptic zombie drama’s weekend finale posted more killer ratings for the “Mad Men” network.

Six million people tuned in Sunday, with Nielsen’s ratings in the lucrative 18-49-year-old demo the highest ever for a basic cable show, The Associated Press reported.

That’s well above the 2.44 million viewers glued to “Mad Men’s” season four finish in October, according to CNN.

But network television still reigned supreme for the week, the AP reported, with 12.2 million viewers pegged for “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” on CBS.

With our without celebrity cameos, "Walking Dead" producers have said they expect fans will stick with the series.

Producer Gale Anne Hurd told the WSJ’s Speakeasy blog that the recent spate of “excellent” zombie movies have kept up interest in the shoot-em-dead-in-the-brain genre.

AMC also plans to tease fans online with behind-the-scenes footage, she said.

Production for the next season of “Walking Dead” is set to begin again in the spring.
