Julia Roberts & Shirley MacLaine Reminisce About ‘Steel Magnolias'

Actresses are reunited for premiere of their flick "Valentine's Day"

Julia Roberts reunited with her "Steel Magnolias" co-star Shirley MacLaine on the red carpet Monday night at the LA premiere of their latest film, "Valentine's Day," and the two reminisced about working together again, sort of.

"[We] didn't have enough [scenes together]," Julia told Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson, about her "Valentine's Day" time with Shirley.

As the women exchanged knowing glances, Shaun asked Shirley if she knew Julia would be where she is today, back when they filmed the touching 1989 film about a group of close female friends in the South who supported each other through hardship and struggle.

"I did," Shirley said confidently. "We lived next store to each other when we were shooting 'Steel Magnolias.'"

"She's my savior," Julia said touchingly.

"Really?" Shaun asked. "How?"

"She's my confidant in everything," Julia said.

Shirley explained the two became close on the "Steel Magnolias" set because she thought someone on the crew was unkind to Julia.

"We had a [crew member] who was not sensitive… a pain in the butt is what he was and he was mean to her," Shirley said. "And so I… I would hear and see the meanness and she would come over to my house and we would talk about it."

"Talk me off the ledge," Julia recounted.
