HBO Sets Internet Ablaze With “Treme” and “Boardwalk Empire” Trailers

In the span of about 24 hours HBO has set the tubes ablaze with trailers for two of the most hotly anticipated TV series of 2010, Treme" and "Boardwalk Empire."

"Treme" comes from David Simon, a man who has made arguably more great television than anyone else currently working. From "Homicide: Life on the Streets" to "The Wire" to "Generation Kill," Simon has shown a gift for character development, story arc and an eye for talent unmatched by his peers.

Simon's latest is set in New Orleans and kicks of three months after Hurricane Katrina has laid waste to the city. The show, which stars Steve Zahn, Rob Brown, Melissa Leo, Khandi Alexander, Kim Dickens, Clarke Peters, Wendell Pierce and John Goodman, is set to premiere on April 11.

The first episode of "Boardwalk Empire" is being directed by Oscar-winner Martin Scorsese, who is also serving as executive producer. The show was created by Terence Winter, who worked as a writer and producer on "The Sopranos,"  penning 25 episodes.

The show is based on Nelson Johnson's book, "Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City," and stars Steve Buscemi in the lead role of Nucky Johnson, the notorious gangster/politician who was instrumental in making the New Jersey town what it is today.

HBO has said that "Boardwalk," with a cast that also includes Gretchen Mol, Michael Shannon, Michael Pitt, Michael K. Williams and Dabney Coleman, will debut in the fall.
