Completed in 1912, the house has since undergone significant restorations. The current owners made investments in the grounds and the mechanical systems, especially, between 2000 and 2004.

As part of extensive recent restorations, the grounds have been landscaped to the original Jens Jenson specs for the property.
Curbed: When they commissioned the house more than a century ago, the Coonleys stroked Wright's ego by telling him that they found "the countenances of principle" in his work (whatever that means). "This was to me a great and sincere compliment," Wright wrote in his autobiography. "So I put my best into the Coonley House."
