Bosnian Tennis Player Collides With Ball Boy at French Open

"Talk about a collision course," the Tennis Channel wrote on Twitter, along with a video of the incident

A French Open match took a serious turn Friday when Bosnian tennis player Damir Dzumhur collided with a ball boy on the court.

The two ran into each other while trying to catch a stray ball during Dzumhur's third round loss to German player Alexander Zverev.

Video of the incident tweeted by the Tennis Channel shows Dzumhur looking behind him in shock before he knelt down to check on the boy, who was lying on the clay in visible pain.

"Talk about a collision course," the Tennis Channel wrote.

Officials escorted the boy off the court for the remainder of the game. In the video, Dzumhur is seen helping the boy off the court and giving him a hug before turning back to the game.

The Tennis Channel later tweeted a GIF of the boy giving a thumbs up with the caption, "UPDATE: He's okay!"

Dzumhur shared his support for the boy in a tweet following the match in which he also thanked the French Open and crowd, while also wishing his opponent, Zverev, luck.

Online, he was met with heaps of praise for his reaction to the incident.

Dzumhur, seeded 26th, had a match point on Zverev's serve at 5-4 in the final set. Having never played a five-set match at Roland Garros until this year, Zverev has now won two back-to-back.

The victory was his first on Court Philippe Chatrier.

"Hopefully many more to come," he said in his post-match on-court interview.
