Climber Dies in Fall at Grand Teton National Park

A Colorado man died after falling nearly 100 feet off a cliff at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming on Friday evening, according to NBC News. Edward Tom, 40, of Boulder, Colo., was searching for a backcountry campsite after a storm with gusty winds, heavy rain and hail passed through the Petzoldt Caves area when he fell off the cliff, a National Parks Service said in a statement. Tom and his partner were on an attempt to climb the 13,770-foot Grand Teton peak. Two local doctors rappelled to the scene at about 6 p.m. Friday to help Tom, and park rangers were arrived after 7 p.m., but efforts to revive the climber were not successful. The incident remains under investigation, the Parks Service said.
