Billy Corgan Accuses Eddie Vedder of Jinxing Cubs

“If the Cubs did have a chance this last year that just passed,” Corgan says

At a Wednesday Smashing Pumpkins show in Chicago, frontman Billy Corgan lashed out at the Chicago-born frontman of Pearl Jam. Both men are Cubs fans, and this fall Vedder wrote a quickly-adopted anthem for what looked at the time like a charmed season.

Months after the song's release, the Cubs fans are still miserable and still pointing fingers. Here, minus some curses, is Corgan's announcement to the crowd:

If  the Cubs did have a chance this last year that just passed … [freaking] Eddie Vedder killed that [stuff] dead. Last I checked Eddie ain’t living here, Okay? Eddie ain’t living here to write a song about my [freakin’] team.

Corgan also explained that he could write a song better than Vedder's and better than Steve Goodman's now-dominant 'Go Cubs Go.'

Vedder's song is below, and frankly, we doubt Billy can beat it. He’s a talented guy, but he’ll never do better than #3 on a list of greats from the Alternative Nation era.
