Woman Wounded in Stabbing at Florida Nudist Resort

An 18-year-old woman was wounded in a stabbing Sunday while she walked on a nature trail at a Florida nudist resort, officials said.

When deputies arrived at the Sunsport Gardens Naturist Resort in Loxahatchee around 9:30 a.m., they found an adult woman with stab wounds that were not life-threatening, said Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Therese Barbera.

The woman was hospitalized, and the resort's general manager, Morley Schloss, said she expected to be released Monday.

Authorities have not identified the woman. Schloss said she was 18 years old and had arrived at the resort by bicycle on Saturday evening.

She had been walking on the trail when she was stabbed multiple times by an unknown person, Schloss said.

"We don't have a clue who did it,'' Schloss said.

Police are searching the area with dogs, he said. The resort is partially surrounded by densely wooded areas, about 60 miles north of Miami.

There were no witnesses to the stabbing, and no additional information about the suspect or the motive was immediately available, Barbera said in an email.

The woman had been traveling alone from Georgia to the Florida Keys, and the stabbing shocked the more than 100 guests and employees at the resort, Schloss said.

"It's a peaceful, quiet, family-oriented place,'' Schloss said. "We've never had anything like this. We don't have a bar, we don't have intoxication here. It's a complete aberration.''
