A video shot by a shopper at a Wal-Mart in Massachusetts that shows a flock of birds eating meat off the store shelves is making the rounds on social media.

The video, taken by Rhonda Kitchen, shows five or six birds flying around a Wal-Mart in Chicopee, pecking at trays of meat in the aisle. The video has already been viewed on Facebook more than 60,000 times.

Kitchen told necn she recorded the video Saturday afternoon.

"This is disgusting!" she wrote on Facebook. "I will never buy food from there ever again."

Wal-Mart told NBC affiliate WWLP the "impacted product was immediately removed from shelves and disposed of" after store officials learned of the issue. Professionals were also brought in to remove the birds. In all, 17 birds were trapped and released.

"We require the highest of food safety standards and have procedures in place to ensure customers have access to safe and affordable foods," Wal-Mart said in a statement to WWLP.

The Chicopee Health Department reportedly visited the store on Tuesday and determined there were no violations and the rest of the food was safe for human consumption.
