Video of Shot Boy Sums Up Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Disturbing video of a bleeding Palestinian boy writhing on the pavement as Israeli bystanders hurl insults at him and widely differing accounts of the shooting have further stoked the decades-old Israeli-Palestinian conflict, NBC News reported. The video shows Ahmed Manasrah, 13, squirming in distress as Israeli bystanders shout "die, you f*****" and "die, you son of a whore" and Israeli authorities mill around.

The video was filmed on Monday and posted to YouTube, but what happened to the teen both before and after that video was shot has been fiercely disputed and characterized on opposite ends of the spectrum.

According to Israeli police, Manasreh and his 15-year-old cousin stabbed and seriously wounded two Israelis and ran away before being shot. Manasreh’s family maintains his innocence. Israeli media emphasized the attack preceding the events in the video. Palestinian media decried the attack and even claimed the boy had died.

Officials have confirmed that Manasrah is alive. It was Mansrah's cousin who died. The circumstances preceding the video could not be independently verified by NBC News.
