I've Offered to Go to Prison in U.S. ‘Many Times': Snowden

Former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden says he’s still waiting to hear from the American government about his offer to serve time in a U.S. prison.

Snowden told the BBC in an interview which aired Monday night he would be willing to serve time or take a plea bargain.

"I've volunteered to go to prison with the government many times," he told the program.

The Department of Justice did not immediately respond to NBC News with a comment.

Snowden, who leaked classified documents about government surveillance, has been living in Moscow since June 2013.
