Several Hurt After Fireworks in Garage Lead to Explosions

Authorities in southern Pennsylvania say explosions that started in a garage where fireworks were stored flung burning debris across a cornfield and injured several people.

Lancaster Newspapers repor
t that two people were taken to hospitals following the Sunday fires. One person's injuries were not considered life-threatening while no information was available on the other. Two or three other people had minor injuries.

The newspapers report that there were multiple explosions, and scattered burning debris started small fires across a 3-acre cornfield.

The garage and a trailer were destroyed, cars were damaged and some nearby homes were evacuated.

The explosions occurred near Mayfield, a small town about 30 miles southeast of Harrisburg.

Authorities are continuing their investigating.
