Police Disarm ‘Credible Explosive Device' at Albuquerque Airport

Authorities said they found a “credible explosive device” on a rental car at the Albuquerque, New Mexico, airport on Sunday, NBC News reported.

Police said the device was attached to a car that was rented elsewhere and dropped off at the Albuquerque airport. Staff processing returned cars spotted and reported it. Officials did not identify where the vehicle was originally rented.

Roads near the Avis Car Rental facility were closed causing delays to travelers at the rental facility. They were later reopened, NBC station KOB reported.

The FBI and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating, police said.
