A gargantuan, rust-colored external fuel tank is being transported from New Orleans to Los Angeles, where it will go on display with the retired space shuttle Endeavour. Officially named ET-94, the tank which never took flight weighs 65,000 pounds and is 154 feet long – about half the height of the Statue of Liberty. The journey by sea will take the tank through the Gulf of Mexico and Panama Canal, and end in Marina del Rey. From there, the tank will wind its way through several streets before it reaches the California Science Center.
