North Texas Photographer Uses Social Media to Find Couple in Proposal Caught on Camera

A North Texas photographer discovered the power of social media on Thursday when he asked some friends to help him find the couple whose engagement he captured on camera at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.

Mike Mezeul was taking family portraits at the Japanese garden Wednesday, and during a break in the shoot noticed a man on bended knee during an impromptu marriage proposal at the bridge across the pond.

"I thought 'what a beautiful scene' so I rattled off a few frames," Mezeul told NBC DFW. "I then had to get back to taking the families portraits and never crossed paths with the newly engaged couple after that."

"When I got home, I took a peek at them and realized just how happy they were and that's when I decided to post online to see if I could track them down so they can have the images to remember their moment," said Mezeul. "All I've done so far to try to track them down is post on social media, as I know it's an extremely powerful resource."

Mezeul's friends tweeted the photo and endeavor paid off. Shortly after Mezeul gave NBC DFW the photo and the back story, he was contacted by a friend of the couple who said the pair would contact him soon.

Mezeul told NBC DFW it's a great example of the power of social media, it took just a little more than an hour to find two people in a metroplex of millions.
