New Jersey Driver Swerves to Avoid Deer, Crashes Into House

Police in northwestern New Jersey say a driver swerved to avoid some deer and crashed into a house.

Hackettstown police say no one was injured but the damage to the house made it uninhabitable and the residents had to find another place to stay.

Police say the 17-year-old male motorist was driving on Lawrence Drive at about 9:30 p.m. Friday when he spotted two deer crossing the road and tried to avoid them. Police say when the car crashed into the house, it sent a computer flying that nearly missed a resident who was sitting in the room at the time.

Police did not identify the driver or the residents. They say they expect to release more details next week.
