Neighbors Shocked That Man Allegedly Beat 90-Year-Old Father to Death

Andrew Moss, 40, faces charges of second-degree murder and attempted felony murder, as his mother is in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital, according to police

A man is being held without bond in connection with an alleged attack at his parents’ Miami home that killed his 90-year-old father and left his mother in critical condition, according to authorities.

Andrew Moss, 40, faces charges of second-degree murder and attempted felony murder, online Miami-Dade Corrections records said. It wasn’t immediately known whether he has an attorney.

Neighbors said that Moss was seen tossing all of his parents’ belongings outside before the incident Sunday afternoon at their home at Northwest 55th Street and 2nd Avenue.

His father Luther Moss was beaten to death, while his bed-ridden mother Adah lies critically injured in a hospital bed at Jackson Memorial Hospital, according to police, who said that their son is responsible.

“It's just shocking that he did something like that to his dad and his dad would give him everything he wanted,” neighbor Loyd Hulsc said.

Neighbors said Luther Moss was frail and there was no need to get physical with him.

“Boy could've blowed him over instead of beating him to death like that,” neighbor Bobby Jones said.

Afterward, Andrew Moss called police himself, neighbors said.

“It hurt my feelings to see a young guy like that destroy his life. I mean if he and his daddy had an argument all he had to do is just push him away and walk out the house,” Hulsc said.

Jones said Luther Moss was a retired television repairman, and his wife had been bedridden for years. Their 40-year old son Andrew lived with them and never showed signs of being violent, according to neighbors.

“I couldn't believe what happened yesterday,” Hulsc said. “His son, we grew up together and this is very shocking, he's a very nice guy, I don't know what happened.”
