Man Threatened Teacher With Gun at Football Game: Deputies

Authorities have arrested a man they say threatened a teacher with a gun at a Seminole High School football game.

Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies say students were hanging out in the parking lot during a football game Friday night when 28-year-old Matthew Caulfield walked up and started provoking the students. A teacher, Joshua Walker, overheard the argument and confronted Caulfield.

Witnesses say Caulfield threatened Walker, telling him he would shoot him and displayed a .40 caliber handgun tucked in his pants.

Authorities said Caulfield didn't appear to know the teacher or the group of students and that alcohol may have played a role. Caulfield was charged with aggravated assault on a school board employee, possession of a firearm at a school event, carrying a concealed weapon and trespassing on school grounds.

Jail records showed Caulfield was being held on $40,000 bond Saturday. It was unknown if he's hired an attorney.
