    What to Know

    • A man has filed a complaint with police, accusing former Gov. Elliot Spitzer of threatening to stab him at a restaurant

    • He says Spitzer overheard him talking at the Manhattan restaurant on Jan. 2

    • A spokeswoman for Spitzer has previously said the man provoked the former governor

Detectives are looking into a man's claim that disgraced former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer threatened to stab him during an irate interaction in a Manhattan restaurant, police said.

Jamie Antolini filed a complaint on Friday, the NYPD said. He says he was having dinner on Jan. 2 when Spitzer came in and became angry at hearing Antolini praise someone Spitzer has fought with.

Antolini accuses Spitzer of threatening him with bodily harm and making statements that he would kill him, police said.

Spitzer spokeswoman Lisa Linden did not respond to an email seeking comment about the complaint. She has said the initial argument was provoked by a restaurant patron.

Spitzer resigned in 2008 amid revelations that he had sex with prostitutes.
