Former Russian Official Found Dead at Dupont Circle Hotel

The man found dead at a Northwest D.C. hotel Thursday was a former Russian official, NBC News confirmed.

Mikhail Lesin's body was found at the Dupont Circle Hotel about 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Lesin used to be head of media affairs for the Russian government.

D.C. police told News4's Jackie Bensen they are conducting a death investigation.

The state-funded media company Russia Today says Lesin died of a heart attack and was 57.

A spokeswoman for the FBI did not immediately return a call seeking further information. A woman who answered the phone at the hotel late Friday said a manager wouldn't be available to speak until Monday.
