Man Freed After 15 Years in Prison for Murder After Brother Confesses in Suicide Note

A man's suicide note confession freed his brother from prison, where he languished for 15 years for the brutal rape and murder of his young sister-in-law, NBC News reported.

Floyd Bledsoe, 39, had his first-degree murder conviction vacated in a Kansas court on Tuesday after the note helped clear his name. His brother, Tom, had confessed to Camille Arfmann's murder even before the body was found, but he later recanted and testified against Floyd, according to court documents.

Tom Bledsoe, 41, committed suicide in early November, and in one of three notes he left behind, he confessed that "I had sex with her, and killed her," Jefferson County sheriff's Captain of Detectives Kirk Vernon testified Tuesday.

Two months ago, evidence was uncovered showing that semen in Camille's body most likely came from Tom Bledsoe, not Floyd, who had appealed his conviction more than once.
