Deputy, Civilian Shot in East Tennessee Standoff

A sheriff’s deputy and a civilian were shot in Carter County, Tennessee, Wednesday night, NBC News reported.

Very few details were immediately available, including the conditions of the two people injured, NBC News said.

Staff Sgt. Michael Carlock said multiple officers were on the scene and were still working on detaining the suspect, who remained barricaded.

The state Highway Patrol told NBC station WCYB of Bristol, Virginia, that shots were fired at about 9:30 p.m. ET. The area was closed and locked down, according to authorities.
