Dallas Retirement Community Helps Burglarized Daycare

A daycare is supposed to be a safe haven away from criminals, but for some reason Greater Cornerstone Academy in Dallas fell victim to burglars twice in one week.

The daycare located on the 8300 block of Forest Lane is connected to Greater Cornerstone Baptist Church in Dallas.

The burglars ransacked the daycare a month ago, taking a laptop, snacks and sleeping mats.

When residents and team members at Presbyterian Village North heard about the burglaries, the community's spiritual life committee gathered donations to help the daycare.

PVN donated a $300 check, as well as a $200 Home Depot gift card.

"To be able to relieve some of that agony and loss, what greater happiness can you find? When I'm around them I feel so much joy. I want them to have what my children had," said Presbyterian Village North resident Pat Pittman.

Pittman visited the daycare on Thursday.

"Look in the face of these children and see if you don't have some pain because of the things you've done," Pittman warned the burglars.

Donations from the community and PVN helped replace all the stolen items.

"We are just blessed beyond measure," said Cornerstone Academy executive director DaNita Harris. "We are just grateful and thankful."
