Central Florida Man Accused of Abducting, Killing Ex-Girlfriend: Deputies

The Florida man who authorities said abducted his ex-girlfriend, stuffed her in the trunk of her car and killed her last week has been captured after a three-day manhunt.

Orange County Sheriff's Office Capt. Angelo Nieves told local news outlets a tipster informed deputies Saturday afternoon that 62-year-old David Payne was at a Sam's Club in Orlando.

Deputies had been searching for Payne since his ex-girlfriend, 25-year-old Jasmine Samuel, was found dead Thursday morning after calling 911.

Nieves said deputies caught Payne as he left the store. He was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and armed kidnapping. It wasn't immediately known whether Payne was being represented by an attorney who could comment on the charges.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said at a news conference Samuel called 911 early Thursday to report she had been forced into the trunk of her car. She later was found shot to death.

At the time Samuel was killed, authorities said her death was related to a domestic dispute.
