Boston Woman Allegedly Attacked 97-Year-Old in Wheelchair at Vernon Supermarket: Police

A Massachusetts woman is accused of attacking a 97-year-old woman in a wheelchair at a Connecticut supermarket, police said.

On Thursday, police were called to the Aldi Supermarket on Talcottville Road in Vernon just before 5 p.m.

Witnesses told police they saw Kirsten Laundry, 42, of East Boston shove the elderly woman's face in a "violent manner." Laundry also allegedly threatened to withhold food from the elderly victim, Vernon Police said.

The victim was not injured. Police said they are characterizing the incident as domestic violence but did not say how the suspect and victim are related.

Police say Laundry was in possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers found cut straws that may be used for snorting drugs.

Laundry is charged with cruelty to persons, second-degree breach of peace and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She is currently being held on a $10,000 bond. It is unclear if she has an attorney.
