AMC Theaters Accused of Discriminating Against the Blind

A group of blind movie patrons filed a federal class action suit this week againt national movie threater chain AMC Theaters, arguing it has discriminated against blind people, NBC News reports.

Their lawsuit claims the national theater chain does not sufficiently provide and maintain audio devices and other equipment that aids the visually impaired that attend the movies.

The plaintiffs cite multiple examples of patrons allegedly being given faulty listening devices or equipment programed to the incorrect movie. The proposed class action suit was initiated by representative plaintiff Scott Blanks of California, who said "we all want to have the same experience."

AMC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
