New York City's Sanitation Department said protesters who wish to claim tents, sleeping bags and other possessions confiscated during the Occupy Wall Street raid can pick them up beginning Wednesday and must bring ID and proof that the belongings are theirs.
The city said those seeking to claim items should come to a midtown west garage on 56th Street between 11th and 12th avenues from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
People will be asked to fill out claim forms and "provide any proof that the items you are claiming should be returned to you."
If the city "is not able to determine immediately that it should be returned to you, the item will be put aside for a determination to be made later."
The city shut down the garage Tuesday after just two demonstrators were allowed to claim belongings.
In an exclusive interview with NBC New York, two protesters, Cody and Taryn, who declined to give their last names, said they arrived early at the 56th Street garage on the west side and found some of their possessions, but then were suddenly told to leave.
Cody said sanitation officials told the pair that there was broken glass among the items and that officials were concerned people would cut themselves.

The protesters who spoke to NBC New York were able to find some possessions, but said they are still missing a cell phone, glasses and a guitar case.
Taryn described frightening moments when the police first entered the park in the early morning hours, and her effort to save her property.
"I got a little bit of my things and then I tried to get back and get the rest and they were like 'No, you can't,'" Taryn said.
