Wrong-Way Driver on Hutchinson River Parkway Collides With Car, Sends 4 to Hospital: Police

A woman driving the wrong way on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Westchester County crashed head-on with a car Tuesday night, sending four people to the hospital, two with serious injuries, police say.

The woman, who was driving northbound in a southbound lane just South of Weaver Avenue in Scarsdale, was arrested after the crash, which happened around 9:30 p.m., authorities said.

Four people were taken to the hospital, officials said.

The 42-year-old woman driving the wrong way and one other person suffered serious injuries and were taken to Jacobi Hospital, authorities said. Two other people suffered minor injuries and were taken to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital.

All their injuries are considered non-life threatening, police said.

Two other vehicles were involved in the crash, however, it was not immediately clear if the wrong-way driver hit them or they hit the wrong-way driver after slamming on their brakes.

Hutchinson Parkway between exit 20 and Route 125 remained closed until just before 6 a.m. Wednesday for the investigation.

DWI charges against the woman driving the wrong way are pending, police said.
