A 27-year-old woman has been struck and killed by a car as she was walking on a highway on Long Island, police said.
Kaitlin Catalano was killed just before 5:30 a.m. Saturday in Port Jefferson Station, Suffolk County police said.
Catalano was walking on Nesconset Highway when she was hit by a car driven by 30-year-old Jacob Cindone, police said.
Catalano was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say she was homeless. Cindone was not injured.
The death is under investigation.
