Woman in Surgical Mask Sprays ‘Unknown Substance' in MTA Bus Driver's Face: NYPD

A woman wearing a surgical mask sprayed an "unknown substance" in a bus driver's face in Brooklyn last week, police say.

The MTA bus was stopped and letting passengers off near Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Lafayette Avenue in Bed-Stuy May 19 around 11:30 p.m. when the woman walked up to the front and sprayed the driver, according to the NYPD.

The driver suffered discomfort and burning and was taken to Woodhull Hospital, officials said. The driver has since been released.

The nature of the substance wasn't clear, nor was it clear why the woman sprayed it.

Police released surveillance footage of the woman seen wearing the mask.
