A woman who was putting money on her MetroCard was punched in the face in a random attack last month in the Bronx, police said.
The 48-year-old woman was inside the Allerton Avenue 2 train station around 3:30 p.m. on June 7 when she was approached from behind and punched, the NYPD said.
The suspect, who police identified as 38-year-old James Sumpter, fled the scene. The victim sustained swelling to her left eye and a cracked tooth. She was taken to Jacobi Hospital for treatment.
Police said Sumpter lives near the train station. He is known to sometimes dress as a woman and was last seen wearing a stocking cap, white t-shirt, black shoes and a blue skirt. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TI
