Woman Hit by Taxi in Midtown Manhattan Dies of Her Injuries

A Korean woman who was hit by an unmanned taxi in midtown last Wednesday died of her injuries Monday, police said.

Suhuyn Park, 22, was walking on the sidewalk near West 51st Street and Eighth Avenue when she and another pedestrian were struck by a yellow taxi at about 8:30 p.m.

The driver of the cab was parked near the scene of the accident and was helping his passenger out of the car when it rolled away, cops said.

The runaway cab hit Park and a 21-year-old man before it crashed into another nearby taxi, police said.

Park and the other victim were taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital, where she was pronounced dead Tuesday, police said.

Park lived in Korea, according to police. It was not immediately clear why she was in New York last Wednesday.
