A 66-year-old Long Island woman has been arrested in the stabbing death of a 60-year-old woman who had been visiting a friend from England, and she allegedly told that friend she needed to do it to "rid the house of evil."

Faye Doomchin, of Great Neck, was taken into custody Monday on a charge of a second-degree murder at her home in connection with the killing of the unidentified victim. Police say the victim had been staying with a male friend in Queens and that friend brought the woman to Doomchin's house.

They went to lunch, then returned with cake to play the piano, authorities said.

At some point Doomchin told the male friend, "I need to rid the house of evil," went into the kitchen, grabbed a knife and allegedly stabbed the woman once, killing her, according to police.

Police say there was no apparent discord between the women.

Doomchin had one prior assault arrest in 1999, according to police, who add it is unclear if she has mental issues.

Her lawyer declined comment after her arraignment Tuesday.
