A woman was charged with robbery after attempting to break into an insurance agency office in Levittown while her baby was in the car, authorities said.
to A police officer was on patrol Saturday morning when he observed a woman running to the back of a State Farm Insurance Agency store on Wantagh Avenue, police said.
The officer caught up with Karen Colato, 25, who tried to get into a 2008 Ford, and prevented her from entering the car, police said.
In the front-passenger seat was her four-month-old daughter wrapped in a blanket, police said.
It was determined that Colato allegedly threw a brick at the front glass door, shattering it in attempt to get inside.
Colato was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child. The baby was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Colato is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
