Husband Questioned After Wife's Body Found Stabbed, With Note in Brooklyn Apartment

Police say the woman's body was in the Brooklyn basement apartment for days before it was discovered

Police are questioning a man whose wife's body was found stabbed and decomposed in their basement apartment in Brooklyn with a note that said "I killed my wife she's putting spells on me," law enforcement sources say.

The body of the 57-year-old woman, Yevonne Gefner, was found late Monday night in the Avenue N home in Midwood after a 911 call reporting a foul odor.

When police responded and found the body and note, neighbors told investigators the pair hadn't been seen for weeks and that the husband had psychiatric issues, sources said. Police then found the husband at Kings County Hospital's psychiatric ward, where he had a broken neck and arm.

Neighbors told police the pair have been together for about two years.

The woman had been stabbed multiple times in the back and also had head trauma, police said.
