A 60-year-old woman was walking in Queens on Sunday when she was surprised by a man who hit her in the head and stole her purse, according to police.
The woman was attacked around 8 a.m. in Little Neck in the area of Marathon Parkway and Northern Boulevard, officials said. The victim’s purse had $15 in it.
The woman was taken to an area hospital, where she was treated for a cut on her head, authorities said. She was otherwise expected to be OK.
The attack follows a crime spree in the Forest Hills area in January and February during which a suspect would sneak up on older women and hit them over the head at least once, police said. The suspect would then take off with the women’s belongings, according to authorities.
One woman was left unconscious, officials said.
Police are not yet saying definitively if the same man is responsible for all of the attacks, but investigators are looking into that possibility.
