Woman Punches Subway Rider on Cellphone, Pulls Her Hair, Stomps on Her Purse: NYPD

Police are searching for a woman who allegedly assaulted another woman on the subway in Queens last month, punching her and pulling her hair, then stomping on her items, police say.

It's not clear what prompted the suspect to attack the 26-year-old victim on the southbound A train in the area of Howard Beach and Broad Channel at about 1:45 a.m. on Monday, March 28.

Police said the victim was on her cellphone when the suspect began to pummel her and pull her hair. The suspect kicked the victim's purse and stomped on it, police said.

The victim was bruised but she was not hospitalized after the attack, police said.

The women did not know each other, police said.

The suspect is described as about 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, 160 to 170 pounds, with a short haircut. She was last seen wearing a gray and white shirt, blue jeans, a black scarf and work boots.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
