14 Hospitalized After Bus Carrying Riders With Special Needs, Car Crash in Westchester

Fourteen people were taken to the hospital on Monday night when a bus carrying people with special needs and another vehicle crashed into one another in Westchester County, according to authorities.

Police said the two vehicles hit one another at West Patent Road and New York Route 172 in Bedford about 3:45 p.m., according to police.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the bus, a 55-year-old Stamford, Connecticut, woman, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Authorities said everyone on the bus -- its driver, an attendant and 11 passengers -- were all also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

In all, authorities said 10 ambulances were called to the scene.

The wreck remains under investigation.
