New Jersey Reports First Human Case of West Nile Virus

New Jersey is reporting its first human case of West Nile virus.

Health officials say the 49-year-old Gloucester County man was probably bitten by a mosquito while doing yard work. He's recovering at home after being hospitalized.

In Suffolk County on Long Island, 21 more mosquito samples tested positive for West Nile virus, which brings a total of 46 in the county this season. Seven birds there have also tested positive.

Four people died from the virus in Suffolk last year.
