Another Heat Wave Expected Next Week

A string of 90-degree days combined with high humidity will probably begin on Monday and last through Wednesday or Thursday

The city is gearing up for a possible fourth heat wave next week as warm weather, haze, and humidity build over the weekend.

On Saturday, a high of 91 degrees is expected with a mix of sun and clouds and a chance of a thunderstorm in the evening, meteorologists say. Sunday will be mostly cloudy, with a high of 88 and storms and showers likely.

A string of 90-degree days combined with high humidity is expected to begin on Monday and last through Wednesday or Thursday. With the heat and humidity combined, temperatures are expected to feel like 95 to 100 degrees.

The humidity and warm temperatures can make it difficult to breathe, especially for people with asthma, so officials are urging New Yorkers to be cautious. The National Weather Service issued an air quality alert for the five boroughs and Westchester and Rockland counties until 11 p.m. Friday.
